A Brand New Café, Bar & Restaurant Open in St George’s

There’s a brand new dining experience waiting for you at St George’s Centre and it’s one you won’t want to miss.

NH44 Café Bar & Restaurant has opened its doors in June, serving up a bold and vibrant menu that blends British favourites with the rich, soulful flavours of Indian cuisine. Whether you’re after a hearty breakfast, a casual lunch or dinner with a twist, NH44 is all about creating moments to savour in every sense of the word.

A Local Dream, Decades in the Making

The team behind NH44, husband and wife Siva and Vani, first arrived in the UK from Chennai and Hyderabad over 20 years ago. Whilst they built careers in engineering and medicine, a quiet passion was always bubbling away - the joy of cooking, sharing and creating through food. What began as cooking for friends and family soon grew into a popular catering company and eventually, the idea for their own restaurant was born.

For Siva and Vani, it was never just about the food, NH44 is inspired by the road that runs through the heart of India, connecting cities, cultures and cuisines, much like their menu, which celebrates the joy of bringing people together through food.

Why St George’s?

"Because It Felt Like Home"

Finding the right spot wasn’t easy. Siva and Vani spent months visiting venues across the region, imagining the possibilities. But when they stepped into the unit beside the lift on the first floor of The St George’s Centre, they both knew this was the one.

“The space had the pulse of the town,” says Siva. “It felt like somewhere we could build something real, not just a restaurant but a place where memories are made.”

Where English Charm Meets Indian Spice

The buzz around NH44 isn’t just about the concept, it’s about the food. Known for their creativity, inclusive dishes and attention to flavour, the team brings a modern twist to tradition, reimagining classics in bold, surprising ways.

Concepts such as masala Yorkshire puddings, butter-chicken arancini and korma mac & cheese showcase the playful fusion at the heart of their menu. Lighter bites like spiced chickpea hummus, avocado-toast with a twist and mini idli sliders offer vibrant, fresh flavours that appeal across the board.

Vegan and vegetarian options are thoughtfully created and never an afterthought. Whether you’re drawn to peri-peri paneer skewers or ending your meal with a karak-chai panna cotta, NH44 isn’t just about eating well, it’s a place where everyone can feel relaxed, welcomed and completely at home.
